Lahir di Pati. Pendidikan: SMA ditambah dengan kursus elementer sinematografi. Memasuki dunia film dan langsung di bidang still photo dalam Banteng Betawi (1971). Sebelumnya pernah bekerja di sebuah percetakan. Tahun berikutnya dalam Mereka Kembali (1972). Sejak 1973 kegiatan di film meningkat, sekalipun masih sebagai still photographer. Setelah menjadi asisten juru kamera (1976), dari 1977 hingga kini berprofesi sebagai juru kamera.
